The month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and is greatly needed for women and young girls worldwide. There are many organizations that have come together to make a difference. You walk into some supermarkets or department stores and most of the products are pink. Most of the products you purchase from these places have partnerships with some of the breast cancer treatment centers, research foundations or even family funds that have been set up for someone who currently is battling the illness or didn't survive the malicious killer of so many innocent women.

Most women don't know how to give themselves a personal breast examination in the comfort of their own home. Some women don't have health insurance in order to ensure that they receive the check up to prevent, monitor or diagnose possible breast cancer. Genetic testing is available for some women who family members (whether paternal or maternal) have had a history of breast cancer. There are cases where men have also been diagnosed with breast cancer and it should be more research done from a male point of health as well. No one is exempt from illness even if they maintain or try to maintain a healthy lifestyle of exercising, eating right and doctor visits as a routine.
Make sure you check yourself regularly, invest in a shower breast self-examination that you can use in the shower and is also a great way to remind you to perform it. There has been so much research done that still leaves many women clueless along with the doctors and family of those who are stricken with this disease. Some individuals speak about smoking causing cancer (of any kind) however, research has shown that some women that don't smoke or are not around second hand smoke have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
